Southwark Community Sports Trust

Southwark Community Sports Trust is our newest sports club in Turney Road is  – often referred to as SCST.  It is a community club which runs the playing fields on the even-numbered side of the road – the southern side.  The fields were for many years the official sports grounds of the University of the South Bank and its predecessors.  When the university decided to give up the lease on the fields the SCST stepped in. SCST has been granted planning consent to build a nursery with sports facilities on the grounds.  A report on this is here.

Edward Alleyn Club

Formerly Alleyn’s Old Boys, EAC backs onto both of our roads and is used by not only the school but also local residents.  There are a number of clubs which are based on the grounds for tennis, football and running as well as a nursery, meeting room and bar.  The bar is open to the public with lower prices than most pubs, a pleasant lounge and satellite TV.  Residents hire the clubhouse for events such as birthday parties.  The club manager, Sholto Moroney on  clubmanager@alleyns.org.uk or moroneysp@alleyns.org.uk 07827 352962

Dulwich Sports Club

Dulwich Sports Club’s main entrance is by the railway arch in Burbage Road.  There is also an entrance in Turney Road which is kept locked for access only by approved members.  The club website gives details of its activities: http://www.dulwichsports.co.uk/.  The club receives a number of late licences for events throughout the year.  It advises us when these will take place and who to contact if there is a nuisance.  The Clubhouse number is   020 7274 1242.

Herne Hill Velodrome

Former P.E.L.O Ground

As from May 2014, PELO (the Positive Education and Learning Organisation charity)  ceased operation at the sports field at the rear of 123-125 Burbage Road.  PELO’s founder, Mario Fauvrelle is still contactable via the  PELO web site   The Southwark Community Sports Trust (SCST) has taken over the running of the ground from June 2014.   For further details please contact SCST – contact details shown at the top of this page.
